Eating Lobster @ Wah Sing Seafood Restaurant

12:49 PM

My wife had wanted to visit this restaurant since she saw this place rank #1 on Toronto food blog website for Chinese lobster. Naturally, I was curious too since there were a lot of good Chinese lobster restaurant in Markham and Richmond Hill ... Since the family was already hanging out in the Toronto downtown core area, we decided to try out this restaurant ...

Food Rating: 4.5/5
Service: 4/5

Atmosphere:
Definitely an old style Chinese restaurant that I used to see as a kid. Arrived at 8:30 pm and it was half busy for a Monday holiday. There was a tv playing in one corner of the room silently. The restaurant is styled like an alleyway with tables on either side. The kitchen was located at the end of the restaurant with open door. I found the place clean and with minimal music background (classical music).

There was a vending game machine to pick up a lobster toy. If you pick it up, you win a free lobster meal. Tried one for Serena and lost ... =(

Service:
The servers were friendly and fulfilled our water demands (hot and cold) with refills. They understood English, Mandarin and Cantonese well. One server noticed that we were lacking cell phone power and provided us a cell phone charger to use. We gladly took the offer! Even by the end of the bill, they offered me the vicinity points (I had no idea they supported this program) towards a free dessert.

Food Comments:
This restaurant was rated #1 for it's special 2 for 1 Lobster deal for $36 dollars with 10 different flavour option profiles. I had some high expectations ... I wasn't disappointed! For the evening, we ordered: the black bean sauce 2 for 1 lobster deal, Egg drop soup, Chinese broccoli and Pineapple Fried Chicken Rice. Every dish was very good. The signature dish of the lobster was great. The lobster was deep fried to get its crunchy texture. The black bean sauce added another depth of flavour to the lobster. The Chinese broccoli was great too. The balance of the garlic and the oil and salt was perfect.

Would I come back again? Yes! It looks like Santa likes the restaurant too (see the photos below).
